ELIZABETH TURNER, MS, CGC

Cofounder and Chief Executive Officer
Certified Genetic Counselor

Elizabeth Turner, MS, CGC is a genetic counselor and the cofounder and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Tele-Genetic Counseling (AT-GC). AT-GC is a woman-owned small business and telehealth practice serving North American patients, providers, and  enterprise partners since 2016. Elizabeth’s core vision is dedicated to breaking down barriers to patient care and delivering expertise in the increasingly complex world of personalized genomics. Elizabeth founded AT-GC in the belief that genetic counseling should be easily accessible for all. Her former thesis project explored the novel concept of reducing reported prenatal patient stressors during telemedicine genetic counseling, versus traditional in-person appointments. This, along with the first-hand knowledge that genetic counseling remains largely inaccessible to large segments of both urban and rural populations, led to the desire to help practices and patients find the genetics support they deserve. From here, the idea grew into what AT-GC is today.

Elizabeth’s core vision is dedicated to breaking down barriers to patient care and delivering expertise in the increasingly complex world of personalized genomics.  A major proponent of healthy lifestyle practices, hopes her team’s work encourages individuals to use the knowledge gained through the understanding of their genetic information to support personal wellbeing.

Elizabeth has practiced in the areas of oncology, pediatrics, reproductive health, and general genetics, and hold a current certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She was featured on a 2019 Kentucky Educational Television episode of Kentucky Healthexploring genetic testing, and in a 2018 Delicious Livingarticle explaining the role of genetics in personalized medicine, and has provided speaking engagements on the role of telemedicine in genetics including the 2019 Southeast Regional Genetics Networkconference, and has been a guest on various interviews and podcasts, including recent work from MedAnswers and the podcast, DNA Today.

In practice, our genetic counselors seek to uphold the Code of Ethics established by the National Society of Genetic Counselors. Advanced Tele-Genetic Counseling supports the terms of professionalism, competence, integrity, objectivity, veracity, dignity, accountability and self-respect set forth in this Code.”
